Create a community-centred artwork using only materials that could not be sold in our local op shops and were destined for landfill or export.
This workshop aims to raise awareness of the burden of unsellable textiles on our local op shops and provides useful tools to rethink and recreate how we perceive our old clothes. We will highlight the impact of fast-fashion, and education on how and what to donate, the post-donation process, and the community's role in a circular economy.Participation is free of charge, and inclusive of all ages and abilities. Bookings are essential.
While you’re in Wallsend, you can also:
- Take a self-guided tour of the Wallsend Op Shop Trail.
- Check out the Handmade in Wallsend Markets at The Rotunda running from 10am - 1pm
This event is part of The Wallsend Op Shop Trail, proudly supported by Special Business Rate funding from the City of Newcastle and brought to you by Purple Card Project.
