WHAT IS TOASTMASTERS?
Toastmasters International is a training and educational organisation which teaches its members communication and leadership skills. It is the largest and most successful organisation of its type in the world. Founded in 1924, there are now 16,000 Clubs in 149 countries worldwide.
WHO ATTENDS TOASTMASTERS?
Members come from all walks of life – from students to retirees. The only restriction is that an individual must be at least 18 years of age to join Toastmasters.
As a member, you’ll learn and practice in a friendly, supportive environment with people who are there for the same reason you are – to develop their confidence and become better communicators!
WHAT HAPPENS AT A TYPICAL MEETING?
Scheduled to last for 2½ hours, our meetings are divided into three main sections: a Table Topics session where members practice the art of impromptu speaking, a short Business session where members learn how to conduct an effective meeting, and an MC session where three members deliver prepared speeches.
Come along and see what Alpha Toastmasters Club has to offer. Visitors are most welcome and there is no obligation to join – you have nothing to lose except your fear of public speaking!

WHAT RESOURCES DO YOU HAVE?
As a member, you’ll receive access to the Toastmasters educational program to guide you in your speaking development
However, the greatest resource is the constructive evaluations and positive feedback you’ll receive from other members. As a Club, our role is to provide an enjoyable, positive learning environment to help you achieve your goals!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A CONFIDENT SPEAKER?
The Toastmasters Pathways Program is self-paced, so it all depends on your personal goals. At every meeting, you’ll perform different assignments which will help you develop your confidence and public speaking skills. You’ll introduce speakers, deliver prepared speeches, conduct the meeting, or one of many other roles.
You’ll improve by speaking regularly and with the positive evaluations and fun Club environment, your speaking growth will be an enjoyable experience!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN ALPHA TOASTMASTERS CLUB?
It costs nothing to visit our Club, and you can visit as often as you like! However, to participate in the Toastmasters program you need to become a member.
To become a member, there is a joining fee of $48 plus a membership fee of $66 payable every six months. As a non-profit organisation, we aim to provide an enjoyable, affordable way of developing effective communication skills.
For a little more than $2 per week, I think you will agree that Toastmasters provides the most effective, cost-efficient personal growth program available today!
DOES YOUR CLUB CONDUCT ANY PUBLIC SPEAKING COURSES?
Yes, we do! We conduct an intensive six-week Public Speaking Course. This popular course will help you gain confidence in all aspects of public speaking, including written and impromptu speeches.
