Get ready to read your way to amazing prizes with the Newcastle Libraries Summer Reading Challenge!
Running from 1 December 2024 to 31 January 2025, this fun and engaging challenge encourages kids to read for enjoyment and education all summer long. Whether you're reading the books yourself or having them read to you, all reading counts!
From picture books to graphic novels, digital ebooks, audiobooks, and even magazines—anything goes as long as you're a current library member!
Children ages 5-13 are invited to take part, and it's a great way to keep kids entertained during the school holidays.
How it Works:
- Sign Up: Visit your nearest Newcastle Libraries branch or email library@ncc.nsw.gov.au for details and to pick up your reading tracker bookmark.
- Read & Track: Colour in the pictures on the bookmark to track your reading—at home, from the library, or online!
- Win Prizes: Complete the tracker to be in the running for fantastic prizes! Plus, the most successful participating school could win a book voucher.
- This challenge isn’t just about prizes—it's about making reading a fun, ongoing adventure that boosts literacy skills during the long summer break.
- It’s free, fun, and open to all library members aged 5-13.
- Reading anything from picture books to audiobooks counts!
- It’s a great way for parents to keep kids engaged while discovering all that our libraries have to offer.
For more information, visit your nearest Newcastle Libraries branch or email library@ncc.nsw.gov.au.
