Re-live the first decades of the twentieth century with Ella and Hazel Porter. Tinplate toys, dolls, schoolbooks and other childhood memorabilia will be featured at Miss Porter's House Museum during the next Open Day on Sunday 9th October 1pm-4pm. See a world before cheap toys and widely available plastic.
Miss Porter's House is the only National Trust property in Newcastle. It was built by Ella and Hazel's father in 1909 and is a freestanding Edwardian terrace containing the possessions of the Porter family. There is a century of household items, stencilled ceilings, exquisite craftwork, an historic fernery and period garden. Something for everyone.
