Best things to do in Newcastle this Easter long weekend

  • 30 March 2021

If you’re looking for more action than just sitting on the couch eating chocolate this Easter, you’re in luck! From mini golf to markets, there’s plenty happening around Newcastle the whole family will love. Here are four fun events to keep you out of a chocolate-induced coma this long weekend…

Score a hole in one at Pixar Putt

Australia’s most exciting open-air mini golf experience is coming to Newcastle for the first time. Kicking off in Wheeler Place on the first of April, Pixar Putt will see you putt your way around 9 or 18 interactive holes inspired by the stories, characters and icons from some of Pixar’s most beloved films including Toy Story, Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life and more. Perfect for players of all ages during the day, the experience also offers after-dark sessions for adults 18+ from Thursday to Sunday nights. Ready to kick some serious putt? Make sure you book your tickets online for sessions available until 25 April.

Support local at the Olive Tree Market

Call into Civic Park this Easter Saturday for a special and festive Olive Tree Market. Running from 9am to 2pm, the market will continue the tradition of showcasing and championing innovative makers and creative small businesses in Newcastle. Reconnect with artists, designers and boutique small producers and show your support for our creative community. Expect a vibrant and exciting market with some Easter surprises on the day!

Catch a glimpse of the Easter Bunny at the Easter Fun Day

Hop along to the Hunter Wetlands on Saturday for their Easter Fun Day. Besides a welcome visit from the Easter Bunny, there will be loads more to keep the whole family entertained including a jumping castle, dip-netting, Easter craft, reptile encounters, and a bunny trail. Food will be available on the day from the Wetlands Café or feel free to bring your own picnic and enjoy the serenity of the wetlands. The whole family can enjoy the festivities for $25 and children under four are free. Pre purchase your tickets online.

Get crafty at Easter Paint & Sip

Grab a friend or two this Easter long weekend and immerse yourself in the uniquely creative Paint and Sip Studios Easter events. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced artist or a novice, skilled teachers will be on hand to guide you every step of the way to creating your very own masterpiece! The studio provides all the materials including the canvas, paints, easel, apron and brushes, you just need to bring your own drinks and nibbles. This is an activity that the whole family will love and is suitable for children and adults of all ages.
