Head to Newcastle Libraries for School Holiday Fun

The July school holidays are literally just around the corner, and there’s certainly no shortage of great things happening right across the city to keep the little ones entertained.

Curious kids will be spoiled for choice at Newcastle Libraries with  branches offering a stacked calendar of things to do - everything from fun with LEGO to web coding.

Sharing Culture Storytime

Saturday 1 July

Uncle Amos Simon from Muurrung Marai will generously share Awabakal and Gathung language and culture through song, dance, puppets, guitar and yadaki (didgeridoo).

This is the first in a regular monthly interactive and fun Sharing Culture Storytime at Wallsend Library.

Dinomights: Dinosaur Tales

Did you know that birds are the living descendants of dinosaurs? 

Step back in time with Daisy the Dinosaur and her menagerie of friends, in a fun-filled hour of storytelling, music and dancing.

NAIDOC Week Storytime and Wayapa Wuurrk Family Practice Introduction

Thursday 6 July

Join Indigenous health practitioner Sarah Corrigan from Rainbow Crow Cultural Collective for a special NAIDOC Week Storytime and an introduction to the Wayapa program for families.

Wayapa is an earth connection practice that is based on ancient Indigenous wisdom, focusing on taking care of the Earth as the starting point for creating Earth Mind Body Spirit well-being. Mindfulness and Indigenous inspired movements allow for a healing space through yarning, sharing and connection.

Mario Kart 8 Tournament

Friday 7 July

Engage in intense four player races, where using power-ups and finding shortcuts can make all the difference. 

Master the art of drifting and turbo boosts, test your racing abilities, conquer the courses, and aim for first place to help your team to be Mario Kart champions at Newcastle Libraries.
