With the Newcastle Pride Festival fast approaching in October, the LGBTQI+ community are hosting some great events to connect in a safe and fun space. From Rainbow Family storytime to study sessions and golf tournaments, whatever the event everyone is invited.
Families of all ages are invited to the Newcastle Library for an all singing, dancing and storytelling celebration of our city’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Rainbow families storytime will feature a special glitter filled storytime extravaganza with Newcastle's own Timberlina!
The Newcastle Library is also hosting University of Newcastle Student's Association Queer Collective Book Club this October where LGBTQIA+ book lovers are encouraged to come along and discuss your latest favourite read, or just hangout and enjoy the snacks with like-minded people from the UNSA Queer Collective.
The UNSA Queer Collective Study Club are hosting a drop-in study session for all LGBTIQ+ students. Bring your textbooks and inquiring minds to a safe space designed to provide social support as you head into exam time.
The UNSA Queer Collective are not just about books and studying! It's time to have some fun at the UNSA Queer Collective movie night. This September the Newcastle Library will screen a classic film that has influenced LGBTQIA+ culture. Whether you can quote Mean Girls word-for-word or feel a little Clueless, there is something for everyone in the queer community.
To show commitment and dedication to the Pride in Sport Collective, The Newcastle Hunter Dragon Boat Club are opening our doors on September 17th to anyone who wants to try Dragon Boat racing and paddle for free!
Take the day off work on Friday 23rd September and channel your best Greg Norman for the Newcastle Prides Golf Tournament. Whether you’re a Pro, weekend hacker, social club player or a golfing nut this day is for you.There are multiple prizes up for grabs including; prizes for the lowest team score, novelty hole prizes, closest shot to the hole and many more. There will be Drag entertainment, raffles, auction, prizes for best dressed group, fun activities and offers at sponsored holes.
Get ready for a tantalising queer smorgasbord of camp burlesque, edgy performance art and elevated drag at Twisted Cabaret this October. Don your most outrageous costume for a night of twisted camp carry-on at one of Newcastle’s most unique and prestigious heritage venues, City Hall. Enjoy a sumptuous two-course meal and show or attend the show only in the opulent art deco dress circle.
Don’t miss ‘Trans Glamore’! This is Newcastle’s first edition and is hosted by the incredible Victoria Anthony. ‘Trans Glamore’ is a night to celebrate Transgender performers and friends and will be held at Meantime this October.
Newcastle Pride is launching the first Pride Youth Formal for LGBTQIA+ Youth and ally teens at Newcastle Museum. Find your people and celebrate who you are with your friends, dance how you want, dress how you want and bring who you want. A night of fabulous queer performers, live music, dance food, drinks, chillout space and so much more!
The annual signature LGBTIQA+ all-inclusive ‘Fair Day’, hosted by special guest Miss Danni Issues is back this November at Gregson Park! Newcastle Pride are partnering with Homegrown Markets to serve you a Fair Day that is sure to entertain the whole family. This FREE family friendly all-day event is the biggest event of our festival. The day includes: Youth Tent, Meet-up Tent, Glamorous Drag shows, non-stop performance art, live music, Doggywood Parade, Children’s Space, Food Vans, Mixed Retail Stalls, LGBTIQA+ Community Stalls, The Red Torquettes and so much more.
