Foodies delight...

Newcastle’s largest food festival is coming for the entire month of April and the line-up of events is sure to get your taste buds watering.

Newcastle Food Month is 30 days of culinary celebrations in the City of Newcastle featuring local chefs, eateries and producers. Not only is the festival made up of 30 feature events, there are also 50 plus Plate Date restaurants and cafes that you can dine at for a special meal deal of just $25 (meal and beverage) during the month of April.

You might not be able to travel the world right now, but you can go on a month-long food tour of Newcastle and sample our eclectic mix of eateries with flavours from all over the world, curated and plated up by passionate local chefs. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to eat out every night of the week, here’s your chance!

Aside from the amazing restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes, the festival features phenomenal events and classes in the streets and dining rooms of Newcastle. Think an Autumn Long Lunch at Pork Ewe Deli, or a self-guided food walk in Newcastle’s east end where dining is an indulgent experience of four restaurants over one long lunch. We told you it’s going to be good!

One of the highlights of the festival is Newcastle Seafood Festival, a weekend-long event showcasing why the Throsby Basin has long been regarded as the seafood capital of Newcastle. From lunch time on Friday 9 April until dinner time on Sunday 11 April over 30 pubs, clubs and restaurants in the area will be putting on their best and most creative seafood dishes vying for the title of best seafood dish in the region. The highlight of the weekend will be the Seafood Co-Op open day on Saturday 10 April, followed by a family-friendly catch and release fishing competition and all-ages art competition on Sunday 11th

Another highlight of the festival is Le Diner en Blanc. Coming to Newcastle for the first time, the Parisian-style pop-up dinner is famous for its all-white dress code and surprise location. The event graces cities such as Paris, New York, London and Buenos Aires plus our very own Sydney and Melbourne. We’re chuffed to see Newcastle up there with the best of them!

Get ready to fill your calendar with a salivating menu of food drenched celebrations - see a full list of events and Plate Date venues on the Newcastle Food Month website.
