Seniors week is here and there are plenty of events and activities happening to keep you entertained. While the week is an opportune time to celebrate our senior citizens, more importantly it's about looking after our family and friends and getting them out of the house to be active and enjoy life. Here are four great ways to make the most of Seniors week…
Bask in the sounds of beautiful Italy
You might not be able to travel to Italy right now, but you can still celebrate the music of this beautiful country at Viva Italia – Life is beautiful. Be swept away by flautist Jane Rutter and guitarist Giuseppe Zangari, joined by Marcello Maio on the accordion and piano, as they fill the glorious Concert Hall this Wednesday with the very best things of all Italian. Buy a show ticket only or make the most of your day out by purchasing a package that includes lunch with the stars of the show.
Get app happy with Newcastle Libraries
Come along to the Newcastle Libraries app information sessions where you will learn how to use the Newcastle Libraries App while also building your confidence in using other eResources such as eBooks, eAudio books and eMagazines. This is a free event for library members to enjoy! Stick around after the presentation for a short Q&A with resident App expert Jake.
Support local senior artists
What better way to celebrate Senior’s Week than by viewing the fabulous talents of our local senior artists? Head along to the New Lambton Community Centre on Sunday 18 April for the Charlie's Gift Art Exhibition and Fundraising event where you can view stunning art, photography and ceramics. The day will also include art activities, demonstrations, guest speakers, wine and nibbles, and a raffle. Proceeds on the day will go towards helping Charlie’s Gift, a charity providing companionship and support to those in our local aged community experiencing loneliness and social isolation.
