National Youth Week is back! Now the largest annual youth participation event in Australia for those aged between 12-24 years, Youth Week celebrates young people and their contribution to their local communities.
This year there are several Youth Week events happening around Newcastle - come along to celebrate young people and provide them with the opportunities to express their views and act on issues that affect their lives.
Join in the celebrations at Jesmond Neighbourhood Centre this Friday 16 April as Harmony Day and Youth Week come together for a colourful celebration of diversity and community. Watch on as young people create a collaborative mural with local artists UP&UP which will be displayed in the foyer of the community centre, and stick around for activities including live performances, information stalls, and a sunset BBQ.
Friday 16 April, 3-6pm, Jesmond Neighbourhood Centre
Show your support for our local creative youth at the Young Artisan Market. Spend your afternoon shopping for a variety of handmade products including artwork, scrunchies, jewellery and many more amazing products. The event is free and will also feature local performers and food options.

Experience the culmination of a 3-day intensive workshop as Young First Nations women present their very own unique musical performance. Working with Yolngu musical dynamos The Illume Girls, these young people have spent 3 days crafting a unique musical performance for your listening pleasure. Following the performance there will be an opportunity to meet and greet with the performers and hear about their journey to the stage.

Get down to Wallsend Skate Park for an afternoon of awesome tunes, games and a free BBQ.
