Featuring both live and filmed performances from Queer artists in Newcastle and beyond, Bearfoot Pride is a multi-media experience that embraces queer identities, uplifts queer voices and illustrates the unyielding spirit of our powerful community.
Bearfoot Pride began as a response to adversity when multiple LGBTQIA+ events were shut down during the height of the 2020 lockdowns. In a time fraught with uncertainty and sadness, this was devastating for the Queer community in Newcastle. Determined to keep the arts and the power of pride alive while stages were dark, the Bearfoot Pride Celebration facilitated impactful performances and messages from friends across the globe.
In 2023, the annual event has reached a significant milestone by transitioning from a purely online format to a LIVE event, in proud partnership with Central Coast youth theatre company, Jopuka Productions. The Celebration will have performances in both Newcastle and Tuggerah.
