Confucius Institute (CI) continues to share more creative online resources in 2022. We hope the dance performance of “Rhythm of the Lotus in Ink” can help you reflect, refresh and renew for 2022.
This award-winning dance performance was inspired by Chinese painting techniques, sentiment of an ancient literature, and movements from Tai Chi, a form of traditional Chinese exercise. Through the dancers’ costumes, graceful movements and postures, and the lighting contrast, these elements are amalgamated to present the life cycle of a lotus flower. The rebirth of a lotus flower, a symbol of the noble virtue of integrity and enlightenment in China, expresses people’s hopes to embrace a fresh start in the new year while cherishes those beautiful moments of the past.
