Join us for our inaugural HSC Visual Arts Forum and explore how the Visual Arts operates outside the classroom.

Designed for Stage 6 students in Newcastle and the Hunter, the HSC Visual Arts Forum will help students better understand the visual arts industry and provide insights into post-school pathways.

Hear from special guest and collection artist Joan Ross about her bold and experimental practice in artmaking. Her vibrant practice tackles complex themes such as colonisation, capitalism, and the environment. Ross creates works across a range of mediums, from drawing, painting, photography and sculpture to installation, video, and virtual reality.

Explore the role of the Gallery through the conceptual frameworks of the artist and the audience with Newcastle Art Gallery's Curatorial Lead, Peter Johnson.

Take a guided tour and discover all that the University of Newcastle has to offer their Creative Industries students.

Students will hear directly from educational speakers, learn about post-school options, and enjoy an opportunity to engage with their peers on a confluence of ideas.

WHEN: Friday 24 November 2023, 9:00am to 1:30pm
WHERE: University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music

Bookings are limited to school groups only. Register your class now.
