Miss Porter's House Museum Christmas Open Day is on December 10. Experience Christmas in the home of an Edwardian family from the west end of Newcastle in the early twentieth century. See Ella and Hazel's childhood Christmas gifts and read the greeting on festive postcards exchanged with family and friends. One hundred years ago children received special gifts, a hand crafted doll, tin toys, a tiny tea set or a copy of the ever popular Christmas Annual, a favourite with every young reader.
As a celebration of how Herbert and Florence might have spent Christmas with their daughters Ella and Hazel, the current House Volunteers invite you to CHRISTMAS WITH THE PORTERS. Home made Christmas goodies will be available for purchase on the Open Day. Come along and join us and take a trip back to a time when Christmas was all about family and friends and the joy of family gatherings.
Open from 1-4pm Decmber 10. Adults $12 Con $10 Family $34 National Trust Members and children under 5 years - free.
