The museum is the former home of the remarkable Porter Women. The collection includes clothing, photographs, craft work and household items of Florence and her daughters. Herbert Porter died in 1919 during the influenza epidemic, leaving his young family to make their own way through the 20th century. The Porter sisters, Hazel and Ella, never married and supported their mother throuhout her life. They both worked and financially kept the house running in a time when pensions were rare. Both grandmothers of the Porter sisters were equally remarkable and strong women.
