Radial Film Presentation

Screening at the Civic Theatre as part of the New Annual Festival, RADIAL is a special collaboration between Tantrum's Accelerate Ensemble and Back To Back Theatre, creating a portrait of Newcastle's community in motion.

For 46 years Tantrum has been empowering young people in the Hunter to make noise. With the support of Civic Theatre and Beyond Bank in 2021, Tantrum launched the Accelerate Ensemble - a performance ensemble for young adults who identify as having a disability.

Back to Back Theatre are an internationally recognised and multi-award winning theatre company from Geelong whose touring ensemble is made up of actors who are perceived to have a disability.

In 7-to-10-minute film, RADIAL will showcase iconic Newcastle locations whilst capturing the Accelerate Ensemble doing what they do best: dancing, singing, slam poetry and so much more.

Filmed on a circular track, performers and the landscape are captured in 360 degrees. For the first three days of New Annual, RADIAL will be shooting in iconic public locations. The special celebratory screening will be free for the community and all to see at Civic Theatre.
