Join us for an engaging panel discussion that explores the powerful practice of seed saving as political act.

From small-scale farmers in the Global South to urban gardeners in the Global North, communities worldwide are reclaiming custodianship of the genetic diversity of seeds as a means of resistance against corporate control and the industrial agricultural system.

In this panel hosted by Chris Brown, community builder and permaculture enthusiast - experts, activists, and local seed savers including Lachlan Storrie (Tree Frog Permaculture), Anna Noon (The Groundswell Collective) and Amorelle Dempster (Slow Food Hunter Valley) will delve into the history, ethics, and politics of seed saving, highlighting its role in preserving biodiversity, food sovereignty, and cultural heritage.

Learn how the power of seeds can reshape our future, fostering a more sustainable and equitable food system for all.

Presented as part of the launch of The Hidden Beauty of Seeds and Fruit and Seed Pod exhibitions and as part of City of Newcastle’s Low Waste Living program.

Refreshments provided.

Ages: Adults and older teens

Cost: Free
