Be inspired by the magical desert world created by Jeannie Baker in her exhibition Desert Jungle to create your own succulent desert dish garden. Succulents are ideal medium for creating attractive miniature gardens in shallow dishes. They come in a variety of colours, textures and shapes and require very little water.

First, we'll visit the exhibition in the Local Studies Lounge and listen to a reading of the story before getting hands-on with assorted materials to create your very own succulent dish garden.

Members of the Hunter Cactus and Succulent Society will demonstrate how to create and care for succulents growing in dish gardens. All materials provided however you are welcome to bring along any small objects you would like to add to your creation.
