Sixty years ago the Beatles debut feature-length film A Hard Day’s Night became a huge critical and commercial success, even being nominated for two Academy Awards. The following year in 1965 their second film Help!, this one in colour, received similar glowing plaudits. The group was hailed as a modern-day Marx Brothers and their director, Dick Lester, credited with ‘fathering’ the MTV pop video culture that was to come.So what better time to celebrate the songs not just from the soundtracks of these two iconic motion pictures, but from all five in their catalogue. Featuring hits from A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine and Let it Be, The Bootleg Beatles and their orchestra will take you on a whistle stop trip through the celluloid career of the Fab Four in their brand new spectacular multi-media stage show.
It's all there, the costumes, the hairstyles, the banter and the gear. It’s not the Beatles….. but you simply won’t believe it!
JOHN – Paul Canning
Paul has performed as John Lennon for over 10 years, starting in London’s Westend in the show Let It Be and filling in for The Bootleg Beatles over the years. A singer-songwriter in his own right, he has written and released 5 albums of original material.Paul has performed with 10cc and also opened for them on a number of tours, which included playing London’s Royal Albert Hall. He describes being in The Bootleg Beatles as his ‘dream job’.
PAUL – Steve White
Steve’s interest in music was first sparked by his father’s record collection but he discovered his talent relatively late, first picking up a guitar aged 21.Steve first played the role of Paul McCartney in a Beatles tribute band in 2006. He is naturally right-handed, but has mastered the left-handed bass specifically for the role.
A familiar face around Liverpool, Steve has performed at the legendary Cavern Club on many occasions, as well as touring Europe extensively and venturing even further afield when playing on cruise liners.
GEORGE – Stephen Hill
Stephen has been a Bootleg Beatle fan since he was ten years old, when his dad took him to see the band in his home town of Wolverhampton. He first started playing lead guitar at the age of eleven, and has been playing George in Beatles cover bands for the past ten years.Stephen’s virtuoso guitar playing has led to him playing with many of his 1960s heroes, including Gerry & the Pacemakers, the Swinging Blue Jeans and the Searchers. Stephen spent two years in the West End show Let It Be before joining the Bootleg Beatles.
RINGO – Gordon Elsmore
Gordon has been playing in Beatles bands for nearly 20 years—that's most of the time that he's been playing the drums, and its taken him all over the world. His first Beatles band was the Paperback Beatles in 1997, and he was part of the original cast of Let it Be."I never get bored of playing the Beatles songs. The songs are amazing, of course, but the challenge is to discover exactly how they made that incredible sound. Its not as easy as you think and massively rewarding when you discover something you've never heard before."
