Few bands enter their fifth decade of making music with all the fierce creative energy of their early years. Few bands are like The Church.
The ARIA Hall of Fame inductees announce eight Australian dates on ‘THE HYPNOGOGUE WORLD TOUR 2023’ - a celebration of their 43 years since formation, and 26 album career. The band will treat fans to songs from their brand-new album The Hypnogogue, as well as the classics fans all know and love.
A monumental concept album, The Hypnogogue hones in on their bespoke sound in without re-treading creative steps, unveiling a cinematic record. Featuring already released singles ‘The Hypnogogue ‘and ‘C’est La Vie ‘, the album offers a pool of melancholy tones and psychedelic swells, transporting listeners to another realm, guided by its striking science fiction narrative.
The Church’s repertoire began with classic early albums Of Skins and Heart – delivering the classic ‘The Unguarded Moment’ – The Blurred Crusade, Heyday and Starfish. Starfish was the 1988 album that broke into the mainstream and gave The Church the international hit 'Under the Milky Way'. The hit single has been regarded as one of the most influential and recognisable Australian rock anthems of all time.
