Youth Week: Me, Now: Storytelling Self Portraits

When

11 April 2024 to 21 April 2024

Where

Wallsend Library

30 Bunn St

Wallsend 2287

View on map

This youth-led digital photo exhibition invited participants to create an empowering self-portrait. The process instils value, shifts the power balance, and gives autonomy on how local young people see themselves and make their own visual representation.

And Then Photo Agency partnered with Mosaic Multicultural Connections to facilitate the self-portrait process. The portraits explore connection to place and belonging, inviting the youth to decide how they would like to visually represent these concepts through self-portraiture and collage.

The photographs will be displayed digitally at Wallsend Library during Youth Week. The portraits will become a backstory for an upcoming large-scale mural the 2024 Wallsend 150th-celebrations, in collaboration with Big Picture Fest.

This exhibition runs during Wallsend Library opening hours: Monday to Thursday 9:30am - 8pm; Friday 9:30am - 6pm; Saturday 9:30am - 2pm; Sunday 1:30pm - 5pm.
