On display for the first time NEW TO VIEW: from the collection includes works from Australian artists Louise Olsen, Stephen Ormandy and Trent Parke.

Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy’s large-scale works deliver a harmonious offering that echoes their 2019 exhibition OLSEN ORMANDY: a creative force. Olsen’s soft and delicate aesthetic shines through in her work Hidden Lake 2018. While Ormandy’s vibrant ‘hard edge’ painting Offering 2018 and sculptural work Totem 2016 reflect his acute sense of colour and precision.

The exhibition also features five works by photographer Trent Parke from The Crimson Line series. A major gift from the Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation, Parke was raised in Newcastle and began his career as a press photojournalist. In 2007 Parke became the first Australian to be admitted as a member of the Magnum Photo Agency. He is described as one of the most innovative photographers of his generation.

NEW TO VIEW: from the collection is explosive with colour and fresh perspectives. It represents bold abstracted works from prominent Australian artists working across the past two decades.
