World Environment Day at Hunter Wetlands Centre, Sunday, 4 June, 2023
Wetlands are a vital part of our environment, one of their many values is to filter stormj water and run off as water moves off the land to the ocean. Pollution including micro plastics and plastic rubbish is trapped in the vegitation as the water moves through the water plants and reeds.
Activities will include:
Planting grasses around ponds to help trap plastic pollutants
Join a guided canoe tour. Bookings essential - phone 49516466. Cost $15 + entry
Dipnet the macroinvertebrates in the ponds to check pond health
Discover the values of wetlands on a talk and walk
11am Reptile Encounter - children 2 years and over $5 + entry
Enjoy the Art Exhibition: Ways, Winds and Water celebrating our environment
Entry for the day: $5 adults and children 4 and over
The Centre is open till 4pm with main activities between 10.00am and 12.00pm
