Enjoy a Spring concert of chamber music for flute, strings and piano, featuring six composers from two continents. The program includes a chirpy flute quartet by Georg Schneider, a contemporary of Beethoven, and the wild "Jet Whistle" for flute and cello by Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos. There is more South American flavour in Piazzolla's "Oblivion" and "Libertango" for Piano Trio, while four short sketches for violin and cello by Ukrainian composer Gliere are offset by a passionate Tchaikovsky "Aria" for flute and piano. Schumann's enigmatic "Fantasiestucke" for Piano Trio rounds out a concert full of contrast and virtuosity.
