ABOUT THE ARTISTS

GLO

She flows like water, in her natural element as she moves through the artistic mediums as a Neo Soul/ Alternative R&B singer-songwriter and a movement artist. Born & raised on Gadigal Land of the Eora Nation (Sydney, Australia), the depth of GLO’s musical versatility grew from her multilayered experience growing up in Australia as an East African woman, influenced by her upbringing with her siblings and single mother. Growing up, her sister recorded music videos on the VCR and GLO would spend hours watching and learning the choreography of her most significant influences including Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child, and Brandy, to name of few.

POOKIE

POOKIE is a Perth based producer, songwriter, composer, DJ, and possibly one of the best MCs in the country. She attributes her love for music to Missy Elliot and the world of hip-hop at large. Growing up in Perth, POOKIE discovered a love for many forms of creative expression, ranging from painting, sketching, sculpting and poetry. Utilising this creative arsenal, POOKIE’s art has become a dynamic display of her South Sudanese roots, with many of her pieces also celebrating her western upbringing. In 2023 the POOKIE takeover is real, having recently performed headlining slots at Meredith Music Festival, Sun Cycle NYD and appearing as the official DJ and MC for Groovin’ the Moo, touring regional centres across Australia alongside Denzel Curry, Fatboy Slim, Eliza Rose and more.
