Somatic Sounds is the premier performance by Ekstasis Ensemble, presenting new compositions by local composers. Ekstasis Ensemble aims to present new compositions and open up opportunities for composers of our region to work with musicians and have thier works performed locally.
Somatic Sounds will explore works of music and dance that look into different aspects of the human experience.
This show will showcase 3 local composers and 1 local choreographer, each with very different backgrounds and experiences in the musical world.
The Emerald Ruby will present two works, The End of Torpor (cello and flute duet) and H4LT THE HUSTLE/FROLIC 4EVA (string quartet, 2 flute and percussion).
Amanda will present one work Snake Hour for string quartet with an improvised dance ensemble.
Jannah Allen will present a dance work called Searching Inside.
Naomi Dart will present two works from her suite We Meet Upon This Shore recently commisioned for the exhibition opening Nindethana.
