Whilst the world plunges into darkness, a shoe-shiner and her motley crew set sail in search of treasure and trouble.

A short, shadowy theatrical fringe experience perfect for courageous kids and their grown-ups. The Long Dark, presented by Pinwheel Productions (Switch Witchetty, 2021) is a modern day fairytale full of adventure, music, comedy, and sometimes is just a little bit scary, performing for audiences for the first time ever!

The Long Dark is an allegory for the climate emergency. Its story encourages discussion about the planet we are passing onto the younger generation, and aims to instil hope that one person can make a difference, and proactively, we can work to find ways to keep fighting the darkness.

Directed and designed by Kenney Ogilvie of Kenney Designs (The Dismissal, Hayes 2024 Season) the entire show is set in the dark, utilising practical lighting and shadow-puppetry to bring the story to life the only way live theatre can.

Pinwheel Productions is an emerging independent theatre company creating parabolic adventure stories.
