The fun starts here, as Newcastle hosts the season-opening race of the Supercars Championship!  

Regardless of whether you're a fan of the black and white checkered flag or a red velvet curtain, we've got you covered with things to see and do. 

The city will be activated with a range of events so both race spectators and locals can make the most of buzz that's in the air over this super March weekend.  

Head to Gregson Park to meet all 25 Newcastle 500 Supercar champions and get their autograph.
Food trucks, kids' entertainment, a car display and a limited-range merch stall hosted by the Newcastle Visitor Information Centre will all be on offer for you to kick off the super March weekend fun. Find out more about the event.

Newcastle, the fun starts here! Experience the buzz of the Newcastle 500 from Civic Park with this free family-friendly weekend. Join us from 11am - 3pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March. Both days will feature FREE activities all day, including toddler messy play stations hosted by the Creative Co, where little hands can engage in play concepts such as play dough, painting, goop, slime, water play and sensory textures. Race your mates on the jumbo slide, bring out your inner fairy or tiger with free facepainting, partake in fun interactive workshops and enjoy some special performances and live music each day. Food vendors will be on-site for you to get a sweet fix, coffee hit or tasty snack, or you can bring a picnic from home or takeaway from one of the many local cafes and restaurants along Darby St and the Civic Centre, allowing you to make a day of it and soak up the fun atmosphere.
